    2. TOMPROS' S ANCESTRY AND UNIVERSITY YEARS The structure of the film is simple. We watch Michael Tompros – at an advanced age – carving out a statue. This image is continually cut by images sculptures that he made at different times and archival material about his life. The texts read over provide information about his life and work. He was born in Athens in 1889 to a marble worker from the island of Andros. In 1903 he was admitted to the School of Fine Arts and studied under Georgios Vroutos and Lazaros Sochos. In 1914 he got an Averoff scholarship into Paris, but the outbreak of war forced him to give up his studies and return to Greece. (TOMPROS' SCULPTURE STUDIO – EXHIBITION AREA)
    3. THE PARIS PERIOD At the end of the war, Tompros held the position of the teacher of sculpture in the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic, from which he resigned to go back to Paris. Then he became acquainted with the work of Braque, Picasso and Mayol, which marked an impact on him. We see his works from that period, interchanged with shots of the sculptor busy at work at an advanced age. (TOMPROS' SCULPTURE STUDIO – EXHIBITION AREA)

TOMPROS' S RETURN TO ATHENS, HIS PRODUCTIVE PERIOD AND AN OVERVIEW OF HIS WORK In 1929, Tombros settled down in Athens and wrote articles about contemporary messages in scultpture. 1937 is an important year for Tombros, because he was awarded a prize at the Paris International Exhibition and was offered a tenured position at the Athens Metsovio Polytechnic. In 1943 he was appointed head of the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Education. Later, he became an academic. His most productive period spans from 1945 to 1974. His work combines traditional sculpture with abstraction, logic with solidity. There is photographic material about his work, ranging from Zeus' statue for the staging of "Iketides" ("The Suppliants") in Delphi to Karaiskakis's statue in front of the Stadium. The director moves the statues in a circular fashion so that they can be seen at any angle. A significant part of his work is on display in public spaces. Tomb sculpture and ceramics in classical or modern manner complement his work. The director's choice is classical accompaniment, mainly Mozart. (TOMPROS' SCULPTURE STUDIO – EXHIBITION AREA - ATHENS)
