FOUR BRIDES AND A GROOM
FOUR BRIDES AND A GROOM
Caricature poster by Mich. Nikolinakos. In the centre, Dinos Iliopoulos is shown dressed as a bridegroom. He holds tightly with both his hands the number four (4), upon which stand four brides, extending their hands and holding flowers. On the left of the group, Vasilis Avlonitis tries to bring the poor bridegroom down, using a crook. On the poster’s upper right, the names of the leading actors are recorded: “V. Avlonitis, D. Iliopoulos, Smaroula Giouli”. Below, the logo of “Tzal Film” appears. Below the image of the group, the title of the film reads in red capital letters: "4 BRIDES AND A GROOM". The number four is the basic feature of the illustration, as the main characters of the plot cling to it. The artist’s signature appears in two places in the poster, at top left, with the painter’s full name: “Mich. Nikolinakos” and at the poster’s bottom, also on the left, below the title, with the initials of his name: “M. N.”. On the poster’s margin, the printer’s signature appears: “Pechlivanidis Printing”.
An imaginative idea of Michalis Nikolinakos for the poster of the film “4 BRIDES AND A GROOM” based on a pictorial game with number four. The basic elements of caricature are present, with the figures featuring huge heads, slim bodies and skinny limbs. The faces have an expressionistic attitude with intense shadings. The artist brilliantly manages to convey the comic character of the film.
