TSAKITZIS, PROTECTOR OF THE POOR
TSAKITZIS, PROTECTOR OF THE POOR
Colorful poster by N. Andreakos, depicting a vehement rider, holding a sword in his right hand. It is Andreas Barkoulis. Below the image, the title of the film, in big black letters, reads: TSAKITZIS, and the subtitle in smaller letters: PROTECTOR OF THE POOR. Below the title, a second image appears, showing a woman laying in a bed and next to her a man embracing her. On the left, the scenery is complemented by an oriental dance scene, with dancers and female pipers. The woman wears slightly flimsy clothes, sandals, jewelry on her hands and a diadem on her head. In approximately the centre and slightly on the left of the poster, the names of the leading actors are listed: “Andreas Barkoulis, Gkely Mavropoulou, Stefanos Stratigos”. The artist’s signature appears below the title of the film: “N. Andreakos”. On the poster’s bottom the phrase: “Pechlivanidis Printing” appears.
Poster by N. Andreakos, depicting oriental scenery. The poster’s main theme, Tsakitzis, appears in the centre, vehement, featuring the characteristics of the leading actor, Andreas Barkoulis, on a horse that gallops vigorously. Lissome manly built with an acute glance and sturdy motion, as he has raised his sword with his right hand. The heroic figure of the man is exalted by the motion of the horse. Together, as a united group, they are ready to confront the common enemy. The erotic image at the bottom part of the poster acts as scenery to this scene and is painted in monochrome, in cold azure colors, contrasting the warm brown ochre colors that predominate the entire poster. In this poster as well, we can discern N. Andreakos’ technique: contrast between warm and cold colors, intense shadings, exotic scenery and oriental clothing.
