3. "CRIES OUT OF TOWN" We see a human pendulum. A mental hospital inmate sways incessantly back and forth. Experts say that this movement is a telltale sign of the feeling of orphanhood. It is marked out by tall surrounding walls, wire fences, seas and mountains. Never before had the cameras been there. Colonies, asylums, hospitals treating poor, mentally disturbed people. Here they are out of reach of family conflicts, children's laughter, and the humiliations at the village square. He is protected. He is granted asylum which is extended, as it were, to encompass those on the outside. We feel protected, too. Our civilization that regards man-eating as downright barbaric has come up with an alternative to do away with unwanted individuals".We see inmates going into the building through the forecourt.
