  • Descrição: Finlandia Newsreel 567 was inspected 10 November 1961. It reports on President Urho Kekkonen’s official visit to the United States and Canada on 10 October to 3 November 1961. One of the highlights of the visit was President Kekkonen’s speech at the General Assembly of the UN in which he stated that, with regard to international issues, the Finns see themselves as physicians rather than judges. During the visit, Kekkonen stopped in New York, Detroit, Minnesota (areas populated by immigrant Finns), San Francisco, Hawaii, and Los Angeles. The visit was full of drama: On 30 October, the Soviet Union left a diplomatic note for the Finnish government suggesting a military consultation required by the Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between Finland and the Soviet Union. This crisis is not discussed on the newsreel at all.
