>> www.isti.cnr.it The Institute of Information Science and Technologies "Alessandro Faedo" (ISTI) was constituted in 2002 and is committed to producing scientific excellence and to playing an active role in technology transfer. The domain of competence covers Information Science, related technologies and a wide range of applications. The activities of the Institute aim at increasing knowledge, developing and testing new ideas and widening the application areas. ISTI belongs to the ICT Department of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) but it also develops relevant research activities in the Cultural Heritage, Cultural Identity, and Material and Devices Departments. ISTI is actively involved in collaborations with the academic world and in cooperative research and development programmes, both national and international.
ISTI-CNR’s contribution to the EFG project mainly consists of activities supporting the interoperability and content access from a technical point of view. In particular, ISTI-CNR is involved in the design and implementation of a common metadata schema supporting interoperability between archives, and tools supporting metadata editing and cleaning, and authority files maintenance. ISTI-CNR will also provide the D-Net infrastructure offering Digital Library services for data and metadata archival.
Role in project: WP 6 leader, D-Net provider and facilitator, main IT partner regarding metadata interoperability and EFG Information Space management.
