Since the incorporation of the Deutsches Filmmuseum, Frankfurt/Main in 2006, DFF has been able to provide an exceptional variety of services and expertise in film: from managing the archive with its numerous collections covering all aspects of cinema and cinematography, to the scientific analysis of the material and eventual public presentation in screenings, at festivals and exhibitions or via print or online publications.
Aside from its functions as research institute, museum and archive, DFF is actively engaged in promoting film culture in the scope of several national (filmportal.de) and international projects (europeanfilmgateway.eu) as well as events like the film festivals goEast and LUCAS. DFF’s educational programs include the ‘SchulKinoWochen Hessen’ (Hesse School Cinema Weeks), guided tours through the permanent and current exhibitions as well as workshops for visitors of all ages.
DFF is a full member of the Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film (FIAF), the Association des Cinémathèques Européenes (ACE) and the Deutscher Kinematheksverbund (German Federation of Cinematheques).
