Description: Postman Antonis (Orestis Makris) with Froso, his grumpy wife (Nelli Marselou) and his daughter Toula (Nelly Mavropoulou) live in a house with a yard in the district of Plaka, Athens. The same yard share Yagkos (Stefanos Stratigos), a young man who has an affair with Toula, and sensational Eva (Kaiti Belinda) who, after two marriages, is on the lookout for a third one to save her face and provide coverage for her rich lover that calls on her in the guise of the "Uncle" (Mimis Kokkinis). The mosaic of these diverse individuals suitably complements Katina (Nitsa Pappa), the landlady of the rooms that open out onto the yard, who also acts as a "go-between" in the seduction of poor girls. In her latter capacity, she has undertaken to "sell" Toula to bourgeois Yavrousis (Christos Tsaganeas) and marry Eva to Yagkos. In exchange for "uncle" getting him a job, Yagkos agrees to become engaged to Eva, and Toula, feeling betrayed and left out, accepts Katina's financial assistance for the abortion of Yagkos's child. The price to pay is her seduction by Yavrousis. When Antonis learns the truth, he thinks nothing other than embezzling third party money in order to save his daughter. But he loses his job and mars his reputation, which draws his family into a moral and financial deadlock. Toula follows the call of her destiny and marries Yavrousis, not out of love, but because he wants to help her father and Yavrousis is the only person apart from her father who has treated her right.

He has calmed down after the violent display of rage. She says she was too ashamed to talk to him and that she had decided to commit suicide. He has sacrificed himself for his daughter and so his daughter will make a sacrifice to save her father’s reputation. Yavrousis politely breaks in and asks Antonis to let him pay his debt. He explains that his offer in no way implicates Toula, who could, nevertheless, become his wife out of her own free will.
