CHILD OF THE STREET (THE)

Colorful poster by N. Andreakos. The biggest part of the poster is taken up by the face of a man with a beard, intense glance and sharp characteristics. A little farther, the figure of a child dressed in rags, with no shoes, lies on the ground, looking up. On the right, in the background, a dark street of a slum with low houses is depicted. Below the figures of the man and of the child, the title of the film reads in big black capital letters: THE CHILD OF THE STREET. On the poster’s upper part, in white capital letters, the actors are listed: “Dimitris Myrat – Christoforos Nezer, Giannis Gkionakis, Athanasia Moustaka and Giannakis and Mirka Kalatzopoulou”. Below the title of the film lays the artist’s signature: “N. Andreakos”. A little further below: “Pechlivanidis Printing”.
Pictorial composition by N. Andreakos, predominated by the contrast between cold and warm colors. Blue monochrome is used on the poster’s background, the street scenery and the man’s big broad-brimmed hat, while warm tones are used on the face and lips. Sharp lines and shadings are used on the facial wrinkles, around the eyes and the mouth. Warm tones are also used on the child’s face, along with big eyes, a straight nose, red lips and red hair. The shirt is colored yellow, while the short trousers red. A simple poster, with barely any letters. The only letters existent are those of the title and leading actors. Once again N. Andreakos allows the images to speak for themselves and narrate the film’s plot.
