On 30 and 31 May 2011, EFG will hold the open conference “Taking Care Of Orphan Works – Rights Clearance in European Film Archives”. Representatives from film archives, Europeana, and rights holder organisations will meet at EYE Film Institute Netherlands, Amsterdam, to talk about rights clearing and the unsolved question of how to deal with orphan works in Europe’s film archives.

Ximon.nl, the new online streaming platform of the Dutch film and TV heritage institutions, was launched last week. Over 650 hours of high quality feature films, documentaries and TV drama are now available for online viewing. The earliest work dates from 1901 and the latest productions were made in 2010.
This weekend, the Lithuanian Central State Archive will present the European Film Gateway at Lithuania’s biggest and most important cinema event, “Kino Pavasaris” - Vilnius IFF.
The EFG was presented on the occasion of the Deutsches Filminstitut's Berlinale reception on 15th February 2011. Around 350 invited guests got a preview of the portal soon to be publicly launched.

The Swedish Film Institute and the National Library of Sweden recently launched the new web site www.filmarkivet.se, which offers the opportunity to see unique archival moving image material from Sweden that otherwise are rarely accessed.
