  • Description: Police ieutenant Giorgos Merkos is so overworked that he never finds time to meet the relatives of his girlfriend Anna. Instead of going over to her place, he prefers to arrest a criminal and to go to the villa of a middle-aged woman named Julia, who is found dead. The lieutenant suspects Julia’s young husband Alekos Petratos, but he has a watertight alibi. He was on the train to Thessaloniki when the murder took place and he was picked up at the station by an aunt of the victim. Eventually, Merkos manages to crack Petratos’ alibi. Later, Merkos is a tad too overzealous during the arrest of Anna’s half-brother Dimitris Naskos, whom he wrongfully suspects of raping a girl. During his attempt to escape, Dimitris is killed, which forces Merkos to resign and also leads to his losing Anna forever.
